Adding responsive design to a dashboard allows the user to decide which data they want to focus on. The key to a good responsive design is a clear, easily understood UI that allows the user to control exactly which data needs to be front and center in the dashboard.

This is a smart move on the designer’s part because data visualization can be overwhelming.
