Thanks for everyones feedback on the previous shot! I found that using a medical cross as the intersecting element also worked along side with the pain bolt. This versions feels a bit more connected with the original idea of a left to right "before and after" progression with the medical cross acting as a symbol of healing. I'm interested to see what @Jens Windolf has to say since this seems to solve the previous association.
I think that we will keep both in our pocket for presenting—this seems to be the safer route to go for the medical field though.
Like it better? Like it less? Other thoughts?

Visually I like the bolt better. But that's the designer side of me. The account side of me says the med cross will go over better with the clients and customers.
With that said, the bolt better illustrates pain. The cross I think better illustrates a general practice. I guess sometimes you're sick, but it's not painful, so sad > happy with the cross for general medical.
Am I making sense?
Makes complete sense @Kyle Schmitz —infact that's my exact thinking as well. I think either concept wil work, it just depends on what resonates best with the client. Either way, some killer materials will come from this direction if they decide to go this route.
To me, the heads no longer look like they're intersecting in this one. The medical cross just looks like its been centred. I know they do intersect, but the way the overlap in the lightning bolt makes it clear.
