KoniKore: Concept Design

After a long 3 years, we’re very happy that we’re finally able to share our first-ever, 3-D R&D promotional video!

So, one day, about 3 years ago, Koniku approached us with a very unique challenge. They asked us if we could pack the essence of their robust KoniKore prototype into something that captures the futuristic flair of their technology, as well as your imagination. The unique aspect of this challenge was in that whatever we made, it had to be faithful to the actual functionality of their prototype – no Michael Bay moments, no Hollywood shenanigans.

Since a challenge like this is something you don’t pass on, we grinned, nodded, and got to work.
We started from the ground up – rough sketches and meetings with Koniku’s engineers, where they gave us a private tour of the KoniKore and its functionality. Some time later, we were on our way to working on the detailed design and modeling of the components, finishing up with all the scenes you’ll see in the finished video. Once again, Nick (AKA “Nickscrown”) served in the invaluable role of Magic Lamp of 3-D Art.

Long story short, we had the complete freedom, and responsibility, to create and compose everything about this video; starting with art direction and script writing, through storyboards, modeling and animating each element, directing, sfx, post – everything.

All in all, we had a phenomenal experience making this promotional video, and we invite you to share in our adventure. Check it out at vimeo.

One important note, though: the technical aspects and visualizations used for this concept are currently outdated and no longer applicable to the actual product, as Koniku completely upgraded their technology of the current version of the KoniKore – more on that in the shots to follow. Don’t miss ‘em!
