The focus for the app also shifted slightly in regards to what OSs would be supported - meaning that for the MVP we would only focus on Android. Given that and the fact that the architecture was also changed and new features were added/existing ones tweaked, we decided to go a bit back to the drawing board on the UI side as well, now focusing on Material Design guidelines, instead of iOS.

Although the user base largely uses iOS, for the first version patients would be given the entire devices ecosystem, mobile device included. This was mostly due to legal constraints - these had to be considered medical devices for the context of early testing with real people. Meaning that since the companion app controls key features that impact the wellbeing of a patient the service provider needs to assure that such system is not dependant on unpredictable devices (such as a personal mobile phone).

There was also concerns regarding personal devices having to be manually synced with the other devices and whatnot, processes that most of the older patients didn't understood or knew how to deal with.

Anyway the idea was that after the first stages of gradual release to the market a public downloadable app would be eventually available for anyone who would prefer to use their own device (probably after accepting new Terms & Conditions to take responsibility by using their own devices).
