This is what I think Jonathan Ive's flat design direction will look like. I have changed most system icons to be flatter and more simplified.

Yeah, I guess this is the way we're going. Not the way some other concepts that have transformed the iOS into something Windows Phone-ish or whatever like that. I really like those clean icons and the new dock from Mountain Lion, which is not flat at all, but is beautiful.
Yeah I agree with @Victor Anselmé. The only small problem I see are the other apps in the app store. When developers go with this flat design there will be like 1,000+ weather apps with almost the same icon for example.
That is a possibility @Mladen. But that'll depend on the creativity. If Apple get rid of that shiny overlays on the icons, I'll be happy.
I agree with @Victor Anselmé and @Mladen. I think Apple can cut the labels beneath apps (or at least make them optional) as it looks much cleaner. Most icons are easily recognizable and those that are not are the responsibility of the company publishing those apps. I do hope that it doesn't lead to more app names/text in the app icons.
Two small notes: I'm not too sure about the photos icon and the brown color of the contacts app. Oh and the Forecast.io icon's edges seem a bit off.
@Julian Neef I hope they drop the labels too, but for folders they *are* handy, and I don't see them being inconsistent with that.
Putting a shape in a colored box didn't feel right for the Photos app icon. Also: I didn't touch Forecast.io's icon (yet), this is just their own webapp icon :)
Ooh yeah, the edges of Forecast.io are a bit rough on my screen too. Just didn't notice it on my dark background. :-)
Too much drop shadow on text imho. ))
Wow! Very Clean! :)
really nice work, love the concept
@Oleg Stirbu This is just the default drop shadow in iOS 6. But the labels make it way more cluttered anyway :P
I think there should be subtle glossy on Apple's icons to reflect Apple products. All matte fells Android, plastic, toy, low-end device. See Tweetbot, Remote, Pages, Keynotes, Numbers, Rise, Shows, etc.
(Sorry for my bad English.)
The gloss might go, and the shelf / dock might go completely
Mmm yeah cydia on ios7
How I wish…

If only this were real
This is what I actually expected iOS 7 to be before WWDC :/
Love it. This is what I had hoped for from Apple.
