Facebook Live App on Portal

Portal is a line of Smart Calling devices by Facebook. It’s a huge step in video calling, allowing people to feel present in the moment because of its Smart Camera feature, which follows people around even if they’re moving around a room. This lets people focus on the content being shared and who they’re speaking to, taking away distractions from having to hold up your phone or position a web cam.

The Portal team at Facebook recently released a new Live app to broadcast video directly from Portal to the Facebook app. I led design to develop this app, and it’s been amazing to see the ways people are broadcasting from Portal – from small businesses connecting with customers, to individuals sharing important moments with loved ones.
