2020 Logo Reveal

Reveal time! 🙌💯 So, it turns out I've had my previous logo for around 2 years now without changing or adapting it. Because of that, I've been feeling it's been rather stagnant and so I decided to revamp it. As you can see, this design is in an entirely new direction, in a circular stamp style to be more exact.

I always find it difficult to design branding for myself, because my tastes and interests are always changing and evolving. For this reason, I've had a tough time designing this one because I couldn't stick to a direction. The only way I could get through this hump was that even though I create all my artworks for clients and my portfolio by hand, I decided to use an existing typeface moving forward for this one.
This helped me stay within some constraints and actually finish it. And for that reason, I am grateful for the multitude of typefaces and design inspiration out there. Thank you.

Another reason for the change in branding direction is because a lot is changing in my life now and I'm moving swiftly to academics again for some time. Namely, I will shortly be starting my Honours studies in Graphic Design, as well as, beginning my career as an educator in the form of small-scale lecturing.
These have been large decisions for me and have taken some time to process and put in place to take action on. That being said, however, I am incredibly excited for what the future has in store for me and my brand.

And so because of this trajectory, a great portion of That Type Guy studio will be taking a back-seat for the next two years as I complete my studies. Part of the plan (at least in my head for now) is to incorporate my studies into this incredible platform and to tap into you for insight and feedback as I continue along this journey. So you can't get rid of me that easily, don't fret!

One of these aspects of my brand that will be taking that back-seat will be client work. I will only be accepting work that is a hell yes and that can benefit my skills or contribute towards my lecturing or studies in some way. Otherwise, I would not be able to give you the level of focus and attention that you should expect from me.

Nothing is forever, and this new path I'm walking will come to an end as new doors open for me. I'm still around, and I'm still always creating, so don't expect for me to go completely dark now. Just be aware that my focus has shifted. I'll also still be taking you along the journey with me when I can. That's what community is for, right?
