Learn to Design and Animate Creative UI with Daniele Buffa
Session 1 - Discover How to Design a Beautiful and Creative UI
As the Principal Designer at MetaLab, Daniele has created stunning UI for the world’s top design forward companies like Google and Sony. Join us and design alongside an industry expert, learn his tried and tested design processes, and the very best industry standard practices.
This first session will teach you how to approach a creative brief and create a visually appealing and impactful hero section for a website. You'll also learn about best practices for designing products, exploring directions, and designing an app's home screen.
Using some of Daniele’s recent projects as examples, he will deconstruct his design and thought process to create unique, visually impactful, and functional designs. Consider how to approach the “concept phase” of your design while thinking of solutions. A mood board is created, references are collected, and the visual direction is established.
As part of your design exploration, you'll experiment with typography, colors, images, graphic elements, and more. After this, you will learn how to polish and elevate your designs. Several tips and tricks are included to train your mind to think in terms of animation and interaction.
There will be a special design homework assignment to complete before the second session, along with a dedicated Q&A at the end of this session.
Best practices and quick keys for Figma
Drafting concept design and creative layouts
Designing delightful apps using typography and other elements
How to create a strong colour palette from your mood board

Session 2 - Using Animation to Elevate Your Design
The second session begins with a review of your homework assignment, including feedback on your designs.
During the remainder of this session, you'll find out how to bring your website and app to life by applying essential animation principles that reflect potential user interactions.
Daniele will guide you through how to use Principle to animate the home screen of your app and how to incorporate After Effects to animate the hero section of your website. This interactive portion of the workshop allows you to suggest animation ideas while learning tips and tricks to enhance your designs.
Afterward, you'll feel comfortable pushing the boundaries of your visual designs and putting forward bold and innovative solutions clients will love. With an understanding of animation basics, you can bring your ideas to life.
