UX Team Lead

Do you enjoy simplifying complexity? Do you want to make a difference to a global audience of users?

Do you want to thrive in a company that prioritises customers and colleagues alike?

Our products are used by small business owners and entrepreneurs to help them spend less time on admin and more time on the stuff that matters.

We are looking for a UX Team Lead whose initial focus will be on our products and services for accountants and compliance: for example, how can we help accountants manage and serve their clients well, and how might an accountant’s experience of our other small business products differ when acting on a client’s behalf?

You will line manage a small team of designers while remaining hands-on, leading a track of design work or major project. You’ll mentor the designers in your team and support them in their career growth.

You understand how to get to the heart of the problem, and take an active role in shaping roadmaps, features, and designs - with customers and users as your guiding light.

Your first 12 months will look something like this…

·        Get to know our customers and users in detail. Meet them in person (when we’re able to again) and digitally, to appreciate the true breadth and depth of the user base.

·        Get to know our products and spend some of your early days doing expert review/mystery shopper activities to both learn about the products as well as give your own feedback as someone coming fresh to Sage.

·        Take on the lead role for an area of work, whether a specific product or an area of UX covering all our small business products.

·        Get to know your team(s), build relationships and start to provide guidance and support to each individual.

·        Work with analytics data to understand how our users are currently behaving and look for opportunities to improve.

·        Feel the buzz of discovering those ‘aha!’ moments that change everything.

·        Continue your self-development – with dedicated learning days, and funding for conferences and meetups.

·        Make a difference to communities with 5 volunteer days every year.

·        Enjoy benefits like flexible holiday allowances, a great pension, a healthcare cash plan, and join the onsite gym if you like.

If you’re ambitious enough to deliver the best in the market, but humble in understanding the real life needs of users, step this way!

Key Responsibilities

·        Be the go-to UX person for an area of our work, whether a single product or cross-segment journey.

·        Line manage a group of UX designers: holding regular 1:1s, reviewing progress and supporting their career development.

·        Contribute to design process and strategy definition.

·        Manage design prioritisation for your area of focus.

·        Analyse, communicate, and action user insight - influencing peers, seniors, and stakeholders.

·        Make use of analytics, A/B testing, databases, and other sources of data to inform our work.
