Theme developer (liquid, scss, html5)
This is a part-time, contract role.
We're looking for a designer/front end dev with expert HTML + CSS skills to build out some new themes for our blogging platform. The designs are mostly done, though there are some elements that haven't been fully-designed, and it's your job to take the high-level mocks (from Sketch) and build them out in HTML/SCSS, along with filling in the blanks of small pieces that haven't been designed.
The codebase requires knowledge of the following skills:
Expert: liquid, html5, scss, Invision, Sketch
Know your way around: Terminal, command line/bundler, git
Prior Liquid knowledge is imperative.
Themes consist of several pages:
- Index page
- Blog post
- Search results
- Posts by tag
- Posts by author
You'll work with an existing codebase (from previous themes), but will need to modify styles for elements in new designs.
But the most important part: we're looking for someone who is a proactive problem-solver. Without detailed mocks for every screen and every viewport, we need you to make assumptions to produce the best theme possible. This includes working out details of mobile-first screens. (But we're always around on Slack to work through the details together!)
We'll assume you can spot common issues like alignment, font weight, responsive issues, etc.
We're budgeting around $500 to build out each new theme. Depending on how quickly you work, this could work out a few different ways:
$50/hr x 10 hours
$75/hr x 6.67 hours
$150/hr x 3.33 hours
We fully expect the first theme or two to take a little longer to ramp up, but then we're looking to quickly build out an extra 5-10 themes.
From there, who knows! If we develop a solid working rapport, we can build many more things together!
