Web and Graphic Designer

  • Washington, D.C. or Rockville, MD
  • Full-time


You’re an experienced, web and graphic designer with strong visual problem-solving skills, and an understanding of UX and UI best practices. You can expertly drive a web design project from discovery through delivery in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and iterative human-centered design process. You enjoy tackling a variety of visual challenges, including web design and layout, ideating and creating interactive tools, and static web-optimized assets. You’re passionate about making health information easier to understand and use on the web, and you’re able to clearly articulate both information design best practices and your creative choices to clients.


  • Own the design of digital communication products within a multidisciplinary team, and deliver high-quality results on time
  • Create visual solutions across both digital and traditional mediums
  • Actively participate in weekly design review meetings, bringing a collaborative mindset and solutions-oriented approach to feedback
  • Successfully create, maintain, and follow design processes, including dev-to-design handoffs, quality control checklists, and more
  • Contribute to the development of accessible and functional web products
  • Present design deliverables to clients, clearly articulating choices and solutions


  • BA in Graphic/Web Design or similar field
  • Minimum 5 years professional web design experience — with hands-on experience working with developers to implement designs
  • Understanding of and experience applying UX and UI design best practices
  • Expert knowledge with Adobe Creative Cloud products, and working knowledge of web development software such as Figma, Sketch, Adobe XD, etc.
  • Strong communication skills
  • Great attention to detail


  • Experience working with government agencies
  • Basic front-end (CSS, HTML) knowledge
  • (Design) agency or contractor experience
  • Familiarity with federal usability standards (508c)
