Head of Product Design
As our Head of Product Design, you're passionate about all things design and user experience. It’s not just that you’re pixel-perfect, but you get satisfaction from creating experiences for your customers that are intuitive to use and help to build trust with our services and brand alike. As well as problem solving for investors and borrowers, you will also build services for your finance colleagues to optimise how we work as a business and make their day-to-day jobs easier. In this role you would be leading by example (this means getting your hands inky when needed) and managing an incredibly creative Product Design team that’s looking to disrupt the industry, one UX iteration at a time.
What you’ll be doing
When you arrive, your first few months as Head of Product Design will look like this:
Now: Meet the LendInvest team, get acquainted with your design team, understanding our approach to design and the methodologies we currently use. You will familiarise yourself with our design system and gain a strong understanding of our customers and the services we provide across the business; Reporting to the Chief Technology Officer you’ll familiarise yourself with our customer base, data, tech stack and exciting product roadmaps.
Next: Working with a user-centered design approach, you will encourage and demonstrate close collaboration with product, engineering, and marketing teams to continually deliver real user value. You will champion design as you engage with people from across the business in order to get the job done. Working with your team you will ensure design standards across our Product suite are being met and encourage the continued enhancement of our design system.
The Future: You will grow and develop your high performing team’s skills and capabilities and will do so through coaching, design critiques and leading by example. You will drive innovative thinking and help the wider business to embed design thinking and user centred methodologies into how we approach any challenge. You will work closely with Senior Management to develop and measure our business and strategic goals. The work your team does will be centred around safeguarding our customer’s user experience and our brand.
What do LendInvest Do?
We're making property finance simple - we know property and finance are a serious business, but we're on a mission to make it easy to invest in property. We believe that micro-services will help us scale and achieve our mission of becoming the largest non-bank mortgage lender in the UK. To get there we are designing and building services that challenge the traditional way we do things.
Your Colleagues
Our tech team is comprised of around 50 teammates, a quarter of our total workforce of 200. We’re split into 5 cross-functional teams, each delivering along specific value streams. We are a mixed bunch, we have several non-graduates, with designers and developers from a variety of backgrounds: a former animator, a former member of the Irish fencing team and another who lived in the middle of the Amazon jungle. Some of us are from large-tech; others from startups; and a few (whisper please) are former consultants.
Our Culture
We work to agile principles, solving the important problems for our customers, often with code being released to production several times a day. We’re transparent, running regular tech demos every Friday to show the business what we have been working on. We actively encourage experimentation and play (just ask about the daily doodle challenge) but always strive to balance our creativity with analytics to demonstrate progress and results.
