Graphic Designer (Freelance-to-Hire)

Podium is a leading digital-first publisher whose mission is to change the lives of trendsetting storytellers by discovering, developing, and amplifying their work.  Our core genres are science fiction, fantasy, and romance, and we have been pioneers in bringing the fan-driven subgenres of Gamelit, LitRPG, Progression Fantasy, Wuxiam and Xianxia to the world of audiobooks.

The Role

Podium is looking for a freelance-to-hire graphic designer to join the marketing team. This person will collaborate and work closely with the Creative Marketing Manager and Creative Director to create visual content supporting digital marketing campaigns, especially for social media.

The freelance role will require approximately 15-25 hours a week of remote work. The position will transition into a full-time hybrid capacity in September, 2023. The full-time position will be required to be in-office Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday in our workspace in El Segundo, California.

Requirements

  • 3-5 years graphic design experience

  • Excellent design and layout skills with expertise in Adobe Creative Suite

  • Interest in marketing strategy, social media, and publishing.

  • Be a collaborative self-starter that meets scheduled deadlines and contributes expertise to team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Motion graphics experience

  • Publishing experience

  • Interest in our key genres of romance, science fiction, and fantasy, especially in audiobooks

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the marketing team to develop creative assets, including social media assets, merchandise, digital ads, website graphics, and other assets required for marketing campaigns.

  • Review and provide feedback on final layouts and suggest improvements when necessary.

  • Maintain the brand look & feel across multiple media outlets.

  • Conceptualize visuals based on campaign objectives.

  • Offer insights and recommendations on social media and design trends.

  • Coordinate with outside agencies, art services, web designers, marketing, printers, and colleagues as necessary.

  • Maintain organization of design assets in Digital Asset Management platforms (Box, Google Drive, and Airtable).
