Senior Product Designer

About Napo:

Napo is a rapidly-growing tech startup that's taking pet healthcare to the next level! In one year, we’ve built an exceptional pet insurance product. Check out our reviews! But we need to do more. Pet owners want far more support than just vet bills — and at our core, we’re a pet-loving tech team, who want to solve the most painful problems for pet families around the UK.

For example, we looked into our data after 6 months, and saw most claims come from puppy accidents. We spoke with our customers, ran lots of design sprints, and within half a year, we tested and launched a “Puppy Academy” to help pet owners with their biggest puppy peeves. It’s a series of live, online classes (on our own version of Zoom) with dog behaviourists and vets, and the customer response’s been outstanding. But we focus on how we can be better.

Our branding, design systems, and product strategy need to be elevated. As a design-led culture, we know our gaps.

We’re looking for a product design leader who’ll be hugely influential in the product and design direction of the company!

About this role:

We're on the hunt for a Senior Product Designer to breathe new life into our current branding and design system. You'll have the power to shape the look and feel of our company and make a real impact on the direction we take.

While we’re an insurtech company, we want to solve people problems, not make money at all costs. So we want our product designer to help drive our roadmap with new products and iterations which will meaningfully improve the lives of pets and their owners.

“I used to be a designer, and good design principles are central to how we plan my team’s strategy. I’d left Meta to join somewhere with a more design-led culture, and was really surprised by how I’ve found it at this series A startup. Our culture comes from our web engineers’ focus on craft, UX research’s prominent role in product marketing strategy (not just development), and some might say our lovely PMs.” - Amy. Lead Product Manager

“Getting into all the little details with product design is what elevates my craft as a web engineer. I take pride in not just the business impact of my work, but also the delight we can give people using our products. The satisfaction of seeing our users interact with and benefit from our work is what drives me to constantly improve and push the boundaries of what's possible.” - Jason. Senior Web Engineer

“As a designer, working with Napo has been an incredibly fulfilling experience. The team is highly skilled and dedicated to delivering the best possible experience for their customers. The work environment is very friendly and fosters creativity. I highly recommend Napo to any designer looking for an exciting opportunity at a company that understands the value good product design brings.” - Javier. Freelance product designer · Ex-Meta

“Working in a start-up as ambitious as Napo is incredibly exciting. It’s rare to have an opportunity to help shape a product that will impact millions of people (and pets!). Design is highly valued, we’re unflinchingly user-centric and there’s a strong collaborative ethos. I love that I feel really supported in the work I do, the ideas I have and even in my own development. Our team is growing, come join us!“ – Alex. Lead Product Designer
