You will become part of a young local UX team, but this team is also part of a larger global and more mature UX organization within Elsevier. As part of our local UX team, you will help shape how we work and collaborate with the development teams, and you will be working with a dynamic and agile development team, collaborating with product manages, UX designers, developers, and testers to develop and deliver these improvements. As an example of such improvements, we currently have a strong focus on making Pure accessible by being WCAG 2.1 AA compliant.

Who are you?

Not everyone can be a Senior UX designer. To be considered for this role, you should be able to check most of the following:


Required:

  • Education: Relevant educational background - preferably a university degree, within e.g. interactive digital media, information architecture, interaction design, engineering psychology or similar.
  •  
  • Experience: As this is a senior position, a minimum of 5 years of experience doing concrete design work is needed.
  •  
  • Professional skillset: Generalist with solid experience in interaction design and visual design for web applications. A minimum of user research experience is also required.
  •  
  • Communication: Good communication skills in English (and preferably also Danish), speaking, reading and writing.
  •  
  • Personal skillset: Self-driven, detail-oriented, sense of aesthetics, systematic, problem solving skills, team player.


Advantageous:

  • Technology: Knowledge about HTML and CSS to assess the feasibility of your designs is an advantage.
  •  
  • Accessibility: Experience with accessibility and familiar with the WCAG 2.1 AA guidelines.
  • Domain knowledge: Knowledge with Pure and /or the research world.
  •  
  • Tools: Experience with one or more of the common design tools such as Sketch, InVision, Photoshop or Balsamiq.


The responsibilities you will have

  • Collaborate closely with the UX team, product managers, and developers to design and implement intuitive user experiences.
  •  
  • Mentor and support the more junior designers in the team.
  •  
  • Design new features and redesign existing functionality in collaboration with one of the development teams.
  •  
  • Create wireframes, functional prototypes and design specifications for your Pure designs.
  •  
  • Explore how different end-users use Pure, by running interviews, user tests and other user research activities.
  •  
  • Expand and maintain our living style guide for Pure, containing our design language, which is based on the Elsevier brand guidelines.



Practical

The position is a permanent fulltime position. You will be located at the Aalborg office, where the primary language is Danish, but you will collaborate in an international environment with colleagues from across the world.
