2D Game Artist

At Bending Spoons, we’re aiming to build one of the best companies in the world. Already one of the top iOS-app developers worldwide, we're going to expand our product line to include stunning hyper-casual and casual games with the goal of creating the next hits. Therefore, we’re looking for someone with exceptional design skills, passion, and creativity to turn ideas into highly-polished 2D artworks.

A few examples of your responsibilities:

  • Illustrate gorgeous characters and all sorts of other 2D graphics (including UI elements) for our games; do so in a wide range of styles.
  • Create high-quality painted textures for 3D assets.
  • Design stunning 2D visual effects and in-game animations.
  • Set the visual direction for our games by creating touchstone assets (concepts, mood-boards, models, paint-overs, etc.).
  • Work with game designers and developers to ensure the game turns out to look and feel exactly as intended.

What we offer

  • Huge impact. You’ll experience what it’s like to design games for one of the fastest-growing mobile companies in the world. Combined with our knowledge of the mobile industry, your work will have a good chance of ending up in the hands of millions of players.
  • Design for users, not clients. We have no clients imposing constraints or dictating guidelines. With only our users to cater to, you’ll be free to unleash your creativity for someone that will truly care about the result.
  • Top-notch team. You’ll be immersed in a concentration of talent, expertise, and team spirit you’re unlikely to find anywhere else.
  • International reach. We’ve conquered hundreds of millions of downloads for our apps, and our users come from all over the world. We’re a global reality and your work will have global exposure.
  • Best-in-class tools. You’ll be given the best hardware on the market and all the software you need.

What we look for

  • Passion. You love illustrating and have a strong interest in 2D art, ideally for games.
  • Versatility. While you may have your favorite style, you don’t mind learning new ones, and you generally become quite proficient in them soon enough.
  • Relevant experience. You’ve got some 2D-art projects under your belt. You know your way around the most common 2D-editing tools, and you can deliver excellent quality from day one.
  • A portfolio to show off. You have a nice, quality portfolio of original work, with multiple examples of 2D art. As long as your work is outstanding, it doesn’t matter in which field you gained most of your experience.
  • Creativity. You’re inventive and find inspiration everywhere.
  • Efficiency. You use your time wisely and can get stuff done at a good pace, guaranteeing high efficiency even when frequently switching across projects.
  • Pragmatism. You’re business-driven, and know how to design with your audience in mind. You know how to prioritize to deliver at a high pace, without noticeably lowering quality.
  • Humility. You’re eager to help and not at all picky on what tasks you’re asked to take on. You’re open to feedback and truly value others’ opinions.
  • Precision. You’re famously accurate and pay attention to detail, on both minor and major tasks.
  • Drive. You’re energetic, hard-working, and persevere through adversity until the job is done, and done well. You get turned on by getting results, and always aim for excellence in what you do.
  • Organization. You keep your projects tidy and structure them with collaboration in mind, so that other artists will be able to get on board and quickly start contributing.
  • Curiosity and initiative. You love exploring and you’re entrepreneurial in seeking out new tools and testing new ideas of your own accord.
  • Interpersonal skills. You love working with people and can build quality relationships with everybody.
  • Conversational English. You read and write well and can hold a relatively fluent conversation in English, even if the topic is somewhat complex or technical.
