Senior Product Designer

Responsibilities

The Senior Product Designer position is an individual contributor (IC) role that will report to the VP of Product Design. You will be responsible for the creation of elegant and strategic products and services. Success in this role is defined by the quality of the user experience which includes impact, consistency, simplicity, and elegance. As an early member of the product design team you will have a key role in defining Shift4’s user experience across multiple platforms and systems.

  • Create designs that will directly power commerce.

  • Empower our customers to meet their needs through beautifully designed experiences.

  • Interpret and distill strategies and requirements, and visually depict the ideal user experience.

  • Design end-to-end flows and experiences that are simple and elegant for our supported platforms.

  • Lead and oversee the user experience of a product from conception to launch in partnership with product managers and engineers.

  • Lead Shift4’s Sports & Entertainment Design System. Own the process for updating the Design System.

  • Proactively identify areas for improvement for the Design System and ways to standardize across products.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of interface design experience. The ideal person will have a background working on Mobile Products (Web, iOS & Android) in an eCommerce setting.

  • Proficiency and mastery of common design software like Figma.

  • In depth knowledge of user experience methods, innovation, ideation, storytelling, prototyping, design frameworks, concept visualization, problem-framing skills and design principles. The ideal candidate will be able to jump in and communicate to cross functional teams efficiently and effectively.

  • Exemplary ability to build positive, collaborative relationships across teams/groups/functions through facilitative leadership to deliver great results.

  • Solid understanding of design systems and interaction patterns to ensure brand, visual, and interactive cohesion across products, platforms, and scenarios.

  • Interaction Design skills defining how an experience should behave based on understanding people's needs, plus consideration of how this innovation will scale. 

  • Ability to use prototypes to demonstrate how a particular flow or interaction will work.
