Graphic Design/ Print Production Manager
The Print Production Manager will perform a variety of technical, management, and support services involving graphic design set up, digital printing and production operations; establish and maintain production schedules; perform related duties and manage staff to accommodate production workflow deadlines.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (This position may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks which may be required for this position.)
Print Shop Operations
Facilitates and monitors printing and production services from start to completion
Reviews print requests
Organizes and implements a production work schedule for processing requests
Provides direction and support during schedule interruptions to accommodate emergency requests
Operates digital printers and finishing equipment
Inspects and verifies completed projects meet quality standards
Monitors all printing systems to insure appropriate and safe procedures are followed as required by operation manuals.
Maintains inventory of paper, bindery supplies, toner, and other consumables
Orders supplies and verifies accuracy of billing
Preps final printed material for delivery to all client locations
Performs other related duties commensurate with the requirements of the printing and production department.
Graphic File Prep/Design Creative file prep using customer supplied logos, ideas, concepts and digital art utilizing Adobe Suite (Photoshop, InDesign and Illustrator).
Consultation Provides consultation and assistance to customers during project development regarding the printing production process, including: How to coordinate and facilitate the project's requirements in a timely manner formulating and preparing print requests
Suggesting appropriate paper and ink combinations, to make a positive and profitable impact for the finished print job
Recommend various printing systems
Conducts cost analysis and timeline impacts for specified projects
Acts as a resource to advise and educate, outside agencies and clients regarding appropriate printing and production methods to meet print needs within budgeted goals
Coordinates competitive quotes and prices, printing and production requirements with internal and outside vendors as necessary.
Education, Training, and Experience
Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described, including progressively responsible experience working as a lead in business printing and production needs; customer service experience; experience in print and production cost analysis; experience operating digital printing equipment, finishing equipment and graphic design. Knowledge of: Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft software applications, PC aptitude, Digital Printing and Bindery.
Print shop operations including the relationship between graphic artwork and computer generated printing products; maintaining print and copy schedule formats to meet shop production needs from concept to completion.
