Senior Animator

The Discord family is looking for an experienced senior animator to wield a mighty sense of motion design against the oppressive forces of an otherwise static universe. You’ll focus on animating a range of characters, graphics and scenes that can be used towards our latest feature release or social posts. As a member of the design team, you’ll help inform how we communicate the brand of Discord to the world and support the creative development of all of our marketing needs. We are a friendly, collaborative team who focus on creating high-quality experiences that grow Discord above everything else. And memes.

What you'll be doing

• Work closely with the Design and Marketing team to create compelling animations and videos.
• Storyboard a sequence of keyframe moments in an animation before committing to the final execution.
• Design and animate all vector elements in keeping with our branding style.
• Develop creative ideas for our marketing and social channels
• Collaborate with designers, copywriters, executives, and other stakeholders
• Establish and communicate consistent visuals and standards across the company's entire brand

What you should have

• A portfolio showcasing relevant work
• Exceptional vector illustration skills
• Exceptional motion design skills
• Strong fundamental design skills, including knowledge of typography, composition, and color
• Up to date with current design and animation technologies and trends
• Fluency in Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects
• Deep understanding of sarcasm

Qualifications

• 4+ years of design/animation experience in creative marketing or in-house design team; experience in social posting and advertising a plus.
• Experience in smaller scoped GIF animations and larger scaled videos that incorporated multi-scenes and sound integration.
• Self-motivated individual with the drive to create motion design concepts with minimal oversight and evolving them over the course of the project
