Digital Product Designer

Who we are:

At Eight Bit Studios, we specialize in mashing up User Experience, Design and Development in to solve real challenges for our partners. Our team is made up of hardworking and skilled UX Strategists, Digital Product Designers, Developers, Product + Project Managers, and QA Analysts who care about delivering great work that we can all take pride in. When you join Eight Bit, you will get a chance to collaborate with some of the nation’s most interesting business and product leaders. We take care to vet our client work so it aligns with our team and company goals. Eight bit is a place to be innovative, to be valued, to bring your best and to keep building.

OK, so where do you fit in?

At Eight Bit Studios our Digital Product Designers transform complex business challenges into usable, impactful, inclusive products for mobile and web. We are looking for an open minded innovator who is confident in taking the lead on UI design efforts and user experience - taking it from a high level vision all the way through to execution. You will go all-in and own the visual design, UI, prototypes and the delivery of fully designed products that will make people feel good.

At your core, you will have a passion for design, a curiosity for how the world works, and a holistic understanding of what makes the best experiences the best. To get it done, you need to have a gut level understanding of the ‘why’ behind what makes a design good or bad and be able to confidently think through user problems, find reasonable solutions, mock them up in detail, and then collaborate with the team to build them. You will bring your full toolkit of design expertise including user research, interaction design, branding, and visual design as you work across multiple client projects and teams at the same time. You will need to feel confident working independently, but also like feedback and naturally do your best work when you are collaborating with the team.

Now here’s what you need for the role:

  • 5-7 years experience as a digital designer working in cross-disciplinary teams and playing a lead role on native projects from start to finish
  • A strong familiarity with various process methodologies - agile, design thinking, and design sprints
  • A real-deal history of designing native mobile apps from concept, through prototyping and collaborating with engineers to bring your designs to life
  • The chops to mockup animated interfaces using Principle, After Effects, or similar motion tools
  • An understanding of the technical limitations and liberties behind your decisions and the tools to communicate your ideas to the team
  • The ability to connect with, present to, and work comfortably alongside our client partners
  • The know-how to build a brand from the ground up and implement into a user-experience or the interface design of an app (brand systems, style guides, marketing materials, websites, etc)

And here’s why we think working at Eight Bit is awesome:

We recognize that the key to our ability to deliver on great digital products is tied to creating an inclusive environment where people can do their best work.
