Mobile UI Designer
Florence is a marketplace where nurses connect directly with care providers without the need for a middleman, and we are looking for a mobile designer to join our new mobile apps team. You will be in charge of creating the mobile screens for both iOS and Android, working closely together with the Senior UX Architect, Creative Director and mobile developers on a daily basis.
What we're looking for
The ideal person would be someone artistic and creative, willing to push the envelope in visual design if needed (we'd rather pull back on more experimental ideas than having to prompt you to try something more unique). Bonus points if you do some animation and/or print work. Number of years you have worked is not as important as artistic skill, but you will be asked to carry the primary design responsibility of the mobile apps team so some experience doing that is beneficial.
What we're NOT looking for
If you want to work in a high-paced cut-throat startup where everyone puts in 14-hour days and have hard deadlines, Florence is most definitely not for you. We are very passionate about our jobs, but we prioritise work/life balance over stress. You will also find that very rarely will anyone tell you what to do, because we trust that you handle your own schedule and workload in order to sync up with your teammates on any ongoing projects.
Why should you join Florence?
We have an amazing work/life balance with flexible hours, ability to work from home if needed, very relaxed holiday quota, summer hours, etc. You'll get a brand new MacBook Pro, a competitive salary and all the benefits of working at a super central WeWork building (free coffee, events, and so on). Our small product team is highly skilled - we all know what we're doing, and we trust each others' opinions in our respective fields.
About the company
We're a small startup in central London (right next to Liverpool Street station), currently at around 30 employees in total (six in the product team, rest are customer support, sales and marketing). We are just about to close a £5 million round in Q1/Q2 so the future is both bright and secure. We are looking to grow to about 50 people this year in total, but with only three or four added to the product team to continue keeping it small and agile.
As mobile UI designer you would be doing the following:
- Planning, designing and organising the mobile UI screens and components using Sketch
- Working closely with the iOS developer to ensure handover is seamless using something like Zeplin
- Working closely with the Senior UX Architect to base UI decisions on their research and findings
- Working closely with the Creative Director to ensure designs are consistent and align with web apps and brand guidelines
