Graphic Design & Production Coordinator

This is an entry-level design and production position.

Who We Are

The Lower East Side Partnership (LESP) is a not-for-profit business improvement district (BID) serving the Lower East Side of Manhattan. The Partnership’s mission is to enhance the unique and diverse character of the neighborhood by improving overall quality of life and supporting the continued growth and vitality of the local economy. LESP service provisions, such as marketing, public space enhancements, events, sanitation, and public realm management are designed to aid in the creation of a thriving community for our merchants, property owners, and residents. 

Additionally, LESP is the operational partner for Essex Market, and provides programming, promotional, and logistical support to the broader city managed public markets portfolio.

Enthusiastic creative with the ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. You possess good time management skills, a keen attention to detail, and can adapt to changing workflows. 

What You’ll Do

  • Support the design needs of LESP and their partners including Essex Market and their vendors. Print materials such as signage and templated brochures plus digital media for use on e-mail, social media, video, and web;
  • Maintain the style guide to ensure that LESP maintains a cohesive visual language including a strong, relevant, and consistent brand ecosystem (logos, color palettes, typography, and imagery); 
  • Work closely with the team members to concept and develop strategies for marketing materials;
  • Execute print production and installation tasks such as preparing files, reviewing proofs, applying vinyl, and various experiential pieces; 
  • Installation duties including applying vinyl decals and lettering, cutting, etc.;
  • Support overall design and production operations.

What You’ll Need

  • BFA or BA in graphic design or equivalent certification;
  • Proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud with an emphasis on InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop;
  • Capacity to execute a range of design styles;
  • Knowledge of typography/type-setting standards; 
  • Proficiency in HTML/CSS/Squarespace is a major plus;
  • Ability to learn the operation of simple to complex machinery. Specifically, digital printers, vinyl cutters, and paper slitters/folders; 
  • Manual dexterity and ability to lift up to 25lbs and be comfortable utilizing ladders and other equipment related to visual and production based design installations.

Compensation: $53,000 to $55,000
