A day in the life of a User Interface Designer at MYOB

As a business and within our teams we are focused on making things easier, finding new ways of doing things, kicking goals and being results driven, and our passion is shown by the love that we have for our work.

Providing visual design expertise, you are responsible for creating innovative and engaging screen-based designs for a wide range of our clients. Working in a lean, agile, collaborative and client focused environment, you love dividing your time between the product designers working on our suite of solutions and our visual design team. Your ultimate motivation is to craft an excellent consistent end-to-end user experience across platforms and devices.

You will also work closely with the design systems team ensuring our UI is consistent and high-quality as well as advocate for a systems thinking approach to UI.

Please note: This role is not a Graphic Design role for the online or marketing departments at MYOB, but a very specific user interface role designing desktop, web, and mobile applications.

The User Interface Designer we’re looking for has a . . .

A deep knowledge and experience of design elements and principles in UI design.
A master of all design tools (eg Sketch, Figma, Photoshop, Illustrator).
Excellent communication skills and confidence to communicate, negotiate and critique designs.
Experience in designing for all platforms (Desktop, Web (Responsive), Mobile (iOS, Android).
Experience in HTML and CSS an advantage.
Experience in icon design and illustration an advantage.
The ability to articulate design decisions in a considered and well rationalised manner.
Knowledge of Agile development principles.
A driving desire to create awesome experiences for clients.
Passion about their craft.

To be considered for this role you will have experience in:

Visual design including user interface design.
Design systems and/or UI kits.
Design validation across a product or suite ensuring a consistent use of visual language.
Giving and receiving critique.
Knowledge of Agile development principles.
Working experience with appropriate design tools.
Strong communication, analytical and interpersonal skills working within cross-functional teams are important.
Demonstrating interest in research and discovery techniques.
