The Visual Designer will create graphics and design concepts to communicate brands and ideas that inspire, engage and captivate consumers. They will develop the overall layout and production design for web pages, advertisements, packaging, brochures, logos, signs, magazines, corporate reports and other communication and branded materials. They will have a strong understanding of user experience, user interface, and web design. They will also possess a can-do attitude to troubleshoot, prioritize, and meet tight deadlines all with an eye for detail.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle multiple design and process management projects at one time
  • Work within existing brand guidelines to create layouts that reinforce a brand’s style or voice
  • Create and develop new brand narratives across desired platforms
  • Prepare rough drafts and meet with the CCO weekly to determine scope of time-sensitive deadlines and long-term projects
  • Absorb and apply constructive criticism
  • Schedule and implement design projects from A-Z
  • Research cannabis marketing campaigns (and related industries) to understand potential branding competition and find inspiration
  • Review and make recommendations on brand strategies to reach a particular audience
  • Create imagery that defines company products and conveys compelling messaging
  • Develop digital and physical graphics including but not limited to product illustrations, sales menus, logos, websites, packaging and marketing collateral
  • Research and stay up-to-date on the latest design software and design trends
  • Make and implement recommendations regarding cross-platform compatibility
  • Source competitive vendors and materials for new or updated packaging, marketing materials, initiatives and other needs
  • Manage and update a comprehensive digital library of production assets created for the company including drafts and final materials
  • Review designs for errors before printing or publishing them

  • Experience working in cannabis preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art Design, Marketing or related discipline
  • 3+ year professional design experience
  • Understanding of HTML, CSS and Javascript
  • Demonstrable graphic design skills with a strong portfolio
  • Extensive experience with Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign, specifically with mockups, web design and multimedia presentation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Experience exercising discretion and handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Organized, self-starter with strong follow-up
  • Ability to work “off hours” including evenings and weekends
  • Professionalism regarding time, costs and deadlines
  • Professional photography experience a plus
  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
