Art Director

FIT by Katy and Onyx + Rose Art Director

As the FIT by Katy and Onyx + Rose Art Director, you ideate, create, organize, and coordinate phot/video shoots, digital assets for email campaigns, social media campaigns, ad campaigns, website needs, and any associated content.

This position will report directly to the FIT by Katy Sr. Brand Manager, and also take strategic direction from the CRM Manager and Marketing Director in order to refine and optimize customer touch points throughout every stage of the customer’s path to purchase and retention for both brands.

The Art Director works closely with the rest of the brand team to execute visuals as they are directed by the leadership team, but should also feel comfortable bringing their own ideas to the table. You should be able to think strategically and will work to concept, design and produce high-end visual, textual, static content. Experience with video and animated content is a plus.

To ensure success, you should have a background in graphic and digital design, excellent communication skills, and the ability to collaborate on projects and receive feedback well. You are someone whose visual design skills translate into high quality content that engage our audience and represent our brands.

The Art Director should be able to define requirements for a project, bring creative ideas to the team, be able to communicate and distill complex ideas into aesthetic layouts, visualize and create static or animated graphics including illustrations, logos, layouts and photo or video designs.

Responsibilities

  • Generate clear ideas and concepts in tandem with the copywriters and strategic manager
  • Produce sketches, storyboards, art layouts based on creative visions and ideas
  • Understand marketing initiatives, strategic positioning and target audiences
  • Meet with stakeholders regularly to determine project scopes and concepts
  • Conduct research on media techniques and design ideas to ensure our appearance is cutting edge and relevant
  • Develop multimedia content ideas in collaboration with graphic designers, leadership team, and developers
  • Design and produce attractive content according to specifications
  • Create animated sequences such as GIFS or MP4s for captivating email and social content.
  • Perform edits based on user and management feedback
  • Create materials through programs like Adobe's Creative Suite—including Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign—and any other relevant platforms including Sketch, Figma
  • Must be able to meet and communicate effectively with leadership to understand what the proposed communication should look and feel like
  • Create or incorporate illustrations, photos, videos and designs to reflect the desired theme and tone of the communications
  • Select type size and style to enhance the readability of text and image, with a strong understanding of visual hierarchy
  • Produce drafts for review by leadership team and make revisions based on the feedback received
  • Review final productions for errors and ensure that final files reflect all provided specifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • 4+ years of design experience
  • A complete portfolio of digital media design content showcasing your skills and experience -- please send with your resume
  • Ability to collaborate on long-term projects
  • Experience in responsive email is a plus
  • Artistic with a keen eye for aesthetics and visually appealing content as relevant to the FIT by Katy and O+R brands
  • Excellent written, verbal, organizational, and interpersonal skills
  • Must be able to confer advice and suggestions from internal and external stakeholders, and understand what’s being asked
  • Time management skills are key; you'll often find that you're juggling several projects simultaneously–a good sense of autonomy will ensure success.
  • Knowledge of both typography and color theory
