UX Designer

Who you are

You stand at the crossroads of where humanity meets the digital world filled with wonder and inspiration. You're an intellectually curious, creative problem solver focused on design methodology who won't compromise design standards to meet your solutions. You keep the user's needs top of mind and you're passionate about creating inclusive, accessible digital experiences for a diverse user population. You have a foundation in graphic design and are well-versed in typography, color theory, branding, layout, and visual and typographic hierarchy. You understand the importance of brand identity and have experience working within an established set of guidelines. You stay on top of design trends and best practices for the web. You're proficient in UX design and prototyping tools and have at least a base level understanding of information architecture and front-end implementation coupled with a curiosity to grow this skillset. You analyze research findings to make design recommendations and employ a practical approach to your work which appreciates the trade-off between a perfect solution and a working, iterative one. Most importantly, you're an empathetic and collaborative teammate committed to bringing your whole self to your work.

What you'll do

You'll tap into your creative energies and be inspired by the talent of your teammates. As our User Experience (UX) Designer, you'll help our team create and maintain visually compelling yet intuitive web interfaces and HTML/digital communication assets. Using a digital-first, user-centered approach, you will work both independently and collaboratively to design engaging, interactive digital collateral with an eye toward usability, inclusive design, and accessibility. You will use research to make informed design recommendations, and you will illustrate design ideas using tools that demonstrate how sites look and function across devices and viewports. You will also present original concepts for websites and digital media that enhance the user experience of our core audiences in the digital space. Additionally, you will promote and uphold digital accessibility best practices with an eye toward improving and maintaining LSA's accessibility and UX/UI design across all web properties and digital media for all users.

You'll report directly to the Creative Director and are a key member of the LSA Marketing and Communications team which is part of LSA Advancement.

The salary range for this position is mid-60s to mid-70s.

Required Qualifications*

Here are the things you already have:

  • A bachelor's degree in a related field and/or 3 or more years relevant experience in user experience (UX) design, human-computer interface (HCI) design, graphic/visual design, interaction design, or similar.
  • High level of creative vision and design sophistication.
  • An understanding of information hierarchy/architecture, underlying code, UX frameworks, browser support, and industry best-practices driving recommendations for digital solutions.
  • Experience designing engaging, interactive, intuitive user interfaces and digital collateral.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards and a demonstrated commitment to designing with those standards in mind.
  • Specific experience in relevant UX design software like Figma, Axure, Sketch, Dreamweaver, Adobe Creative Suite, and similar.
