Lead Designer

Position:

As Lead Designer at Zeel, you will represent design and drive the design process. You will head up a design team of UX/visual designers who work alongside cross-functional teams of Engineers and Product Managers. You will also shape the full visual experience across our existing product suite, new features, and promotional collateral as you grow design-oriented thinking across Zeel. You have a strong visual and UX background, and are a well-rounded designer who steps back to analyze complex workflows, but also able to dive into the interactions and visual details. You are comfortable collaborating with other designers to craft amazing user experiences for our customers. Our ideal candidate has a clean design sense, is a systems-level thinker, and is dedicated to turning complex workflows into delightful experiences.

What you’ll do:

  • Mentor and manage a growing team of both UX and visual designers
  • Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and business stakeholders to build customer-centric products
  • Evangelize the UX and design process to c-suite execs and internal stakeholders
  • Design user flows, wireframes, and high-fidelity mockups
  • Maintain design consistency and coherence across all Zeel platforms both in style and voice
  • Continually refine the look, feel, and experience of using Zeel
  • Direct visual designers on a number of customer touchpoints including emails, promotional collateral, and digital ads

What you’ll need:

  • 4+ years of design experience as part of an in-house design team where you’ve had hands on experience implementing products and new features
  • A user-centered design approach – experience with user research, survey creation, persona building, prototyping, and user testing as part of an iterative design process
  • A results oriented portfolio that showcases your best work
  • Mastery of multiple best-in-class design tools (we use Sketch, Marvel, and Principle)
  • Familiarity with web and mobile UI design patterns, material design, bootstrap, etc
  • Ability to take initiative, uncover needs, and be self-directed

What we’d like:

  • History of working directly with engineers to implement designs
  • Experience managing a small team
  • Background in a diversity of design disciplines e.g. Creative direction, UI design, interaction design, visual design, UX research, Photography/Videography
  • Interest in the wellness space
