Senior Web Designer

Senior Designers contribute to the success of our team and clients by providing elevated design expertise to meet the stated goals on projects and mentoring team members to help them grow in their skills. This role requires excellent creative and technical skills as well as the ability to give and receive feedback, coach fellow designers, and improve design-related processes. 


Job Requirements & Qualifications 

  • Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design or related work experience
  • 6+ years of work in design, with a focus on web or digital experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design to client specifications
  • Experience with efficiently managing budgeted workloads
  • Strong communication skills to effectively work with project teams and manage client expectations
  • Experience working collaboratively with clients or stakeholders to create a finished product
  • Demonstrated experience with implementing successful UX/UI best practices on client projects 
  • Advanced experience with Adobe Creative Suite, specifically Photoshop, InDesign, and XD
  • Advanced experience with WordPress, Drupal, or additional CMS 
  • Experience with strategic implementation of brand standards for clients 
  • Photography and videography experience a plus
  • Web designers should have specific knowledge in the following technical areas: 
  • HTML5—Clean, semantic, valid HTML
  • CSS—Sass
  • Bootstrap / Responsive Development / Media queries 
  • JS—jQuery


A successful Senior Designer contributes to the success of our team and our clients by:

  • Creating original, innovative designs for websites and applications
  • Focusing on optimal user experience to meet the stated goals for the project
  • Designing to meet current accessibility standards and best practices for site performance
  • Taking ownership of client conversations about design features
  • Effectively giving and receiving feedback related to creative work 
  • Working with project managers to organize pipeline, prioritize tasks, and communicate when projects are ready for review
  • Demonstrating an in-depth understand of the Iron Triangle (Scope, Time, Budget)
  • Providing expertise and insight to the project manager and sales team to create a comprehensive scope of work for new projects and/or tasks
  • Accurately estimating the amount of effort required to complete a task or project
  • Effectively managing time spent on the project to stay within the overall budget and communicating out of scope changes to the project manager
  • Meeting with developers as needed to understand the technical needs behind implementing each design
  • Creating additional branding elements as needed, such as marketing collateral, logos, and style guides
  • Taking initiative to learn new design techniques and sharing that knowledge with the rest of the team through department meetings or team training sessions 
  • Providing input on improvements to the creative process, assisting division and team leads in maintaining design process documentation 
  • Mentoring more junior members of the design team in design best practices and providing constructive feedback
  • Training and onboarding new team members on the Webspec creative process
