Motion Graphics

Washington, DC

  • Job Requirements: Must be local to location (or willing to work as a local).

A small and growing creative services firm located in NW, DC is looking to engage a talented early- to mid-career motion graphics designer in a temporary role.

The hiring firm does a lot of work for advocacy organizations. Therefore this role could provide an opportunity to impact messaging on a variety of interesting issues that might tie into local and national elections. However, it's worth noting that the firm does not actively seek out political campaign work.

We're posting this announcement in mid-April with the hope of identifying someone terrific who can start ASAP and work in the temporary position through mid-November or possibly the end of the year. Additionally, the hiring firm has indicated that they are planning to make a few full-time hires early in 2019. They will very seriously consider hiring freelancers who contribute significantly to their success throughout 2018.

Projects might include fully animated explainers; compositing graphics with professionally recorded footage; creation of transitional graphics; animations of client logos into bumpers, lower thirds, and gifs; and other titling projects. Also, the Motion Designer will work closely with local and remotely located freelance Senior Designers and Art Directors, who will be engaged in specific projects throughout the duration of the assignment.

Brainstorm has successfully completed several stand-alone projects with the hiring firm in 2018.

TECHNICAL SKILL REQUIREMENTS:
* High level of proficiency in the use of Adobe After Effects, Premiere & Photoshop.
* Some exposure to or willingness to learn specialized software for 3D, VR workflows and color. In-particular, our client has indicated that Davinci Resolve could be a part of the mix.

HOURS / LOCATION / WORK ENVIRONMENT:
We are only interested in receiving applications and inquiries from individuals who can work:
(1) 35 - 40 dayside hours/week,
(2) on-site at the employer workplace four or five days/week;
(3) in upper NW, Washington, DC;
(4) starting mid-April to early May;
(5) continuing through mid-November.

The hiring firm offers a truly creative workspace in a former nightclub space that is being converted into video and photo studios, in a thriving and culturally diverse DC neighborhood. It's a Mac shop, and the location is easily accessible via Metrorail and Metrobus. Most employees work 9am - 6pm or 10am - 7pm. Folks are expected to legitimately take lunch each day. As is the case in just about all creative agency environments, there may be occasional long days or weekend work. We mean it when we say occasional. Our client has stressed that firm leaders strive to manage the workflow so that employees can have a good work/life balance.

RATE:
Based on conversations we have had with our client, Brainstorm Creative Resources has determined a pay rate range of $30/hr. to $50/hr. The actual rate offered will be commensurate with experience and market norms. It will also be based on some or all of the following factors: credentials as detailed in your resume, your portfolio, interview experiences with Brainstorm Creative Resources and our client, and quality of reference providers and references provided.

Brainstorm Creative Resources strives to pay competitively. However, it is unlikely (but not impossible) that we will be able to pay less experienced applicants at the top of the stated salary range. More experienced applicants can expect that we will make a strong case to our client, to pay you at the top of the range. While we have qualified this role as good fit for an early- to mid-career professional, we would be glad to hear from talented individuals who clearly communicate why they are interested in the assignment, and who believe they are appropriately qualified for it regardless of their overall level of experience.
