Upperstudy is an apprenticeship program for ambitious designers who want to work at a fast-growing startup. We provide support, collaboration, and access to breakout design roles with early-stage teams who are building innovative products across a wide range of industries, funded by some of the top investors in the world.

About the Role

You'll work as a product designer with an early-stage startup during your apprenticeship, receiving daily support, help, and collaboration from seasoned designers at Upperstudy. You'll build alongside founders, product managers, engineers to design and ship digital products and software experiences from start to finish.

We’re looking for designers who enjoy working collaboratively, challenging themselves to continuously level up, and love designing effective and simple solutions for users. On any given day you might:

• Discuss the overall product direction and strategy while kicking off a new project
• Create a prototype for the UX of new feature
• Pair design with a mentor on a complex design challenge
• Refine UI components in a design system
• Help an engineer fine-tune the implementation for an interaction you’ve designed
• Talk to users to discover new insights and opportunities
• Collaborate with other designers at Upperstudy during our daily Design Jam

About You

• You have prior professional design experience, which may include freelance roles or design internships
• You have a portfolio of work demonstrating user experiences and interfaces you’ve designed
• You have strong communication skills and the ability to articulate your thinking & decisions
• You're driven, curious, and highly motivated to grow your skills and accelerate in your career
• You want to have significant impact and ownership at a startup, and collaborate closely with a team to craft products that people love
• You’re excited to join and contribute to a growing community of other startup designers

Apprenticeship roles at Upperstudy are paid, full-time, and US remote in all states (except HI and CO) for US citizens or permanent residents over 18 years old. We are unable to support internships or provide visa sponsorship at this time.
