About LalTal

LalTal is a peer-to-peer, audio-based learning app that maps your knowledge and guides you along a bespoke path of lifelong learning and growth, teaching you everything you need to know along the way. All of this occurs in an engaging, interactive flashcard game - think Duolingo meets Clubhouse meets Stack Exchange.

We are a venture-backed startup founded by John Cumbers, PhD, former NASA synthetic biologist and founder of SynBioBeta, and T.J. Kneale, former Navy fighter pilot and Head of Moonshot Launch at Telefónica. Key investors include DCVC and Uprising as well as angel investors Uma Valeti (Memphis Meats), Neil Parikh (Casper), and Esther Dyson (EdVenture). LalTal is a fully remote company. We have team members in Barcelona, Toronto, and across the US. Each year we choose an exciting location to meet up in person - our most recent was Barcelona.

About the role

As a Mobile UX/UI designer, you'll work directly with the CEO to visualize user experience and user interface solutions that capitalize on LalTal's unique, asynchronous audio interaction to make learning engaging and personal. This is a part-time role starting at 10-20 hours/week, with the potential to grow to more if you desire.

You will:

• Sketch in real time to imagine customer journeys and user interfaces collaboratively with the product team
• Create low fidelity mockups and develop high fidelity prototypes using Figma (or other tools)
• Conduct user tests to gather early feedback
• Clearly communicate intended designs and behaviors to the engineering team for implementation
• Collaborate with engineering throughout the process to find solutions that balance engineering ease with ideal user experience

About you:

• You have previous experience in mobile UX/UI design, preferably from beautiful and well known apps
• You have experience working with agile methods
• You enjoy bringing others' ideas to life
• You're a craftsperson with strong skills and experience in Figma and design prototyping tools
• You are fluent in English
• You are located in the Americas
