Senior UX Designer

At eMoney, our mission is to help people talk about money. Our products make a difference in the lives of millions, empowering people to achieve their goals, no matter where they are in their financial journey.

We’re looking for a talented, ambitious Senior UX Designer to join us in our mission. In this role, you’ll be part of our growing UX practice, passionate about understanding and solving complex challenges using human-centered design.

As a core member supporting one of our product teams, you’ll collaborate with fellow designers, researchers, product managers, developers, and beyond to ensure we identify the right problems, define the right solutions, and deliver them right.

You’ll be engaged from strategy through execution, shaping how product features work through their interaction and visual design. At every step of the way, you’ll rely on data over instinct and connect your decisions with user needs, the broader product vision, and our company objectives.

As a senior member of our UX team, you’ll contribute toward the growth of our practice and champion human-centered design across our company.

Job Responsibilities

  • Facilitate collaboration as part of an embedded product team, working with design leads, researchers, product managers, and developers to plan, coordinate, and conduct the appropriate design activities from strategy through execution.
  • Focus on outcomes: clarify the problems you’re trying to solve, the behaviors you intend to change, and how you will know your solution works. Work with researchers to design studies to test your hypothesis.
  • Take the complex and make it simple, designing with consideration of what users need at each step. Attend to the sequence of steps and organization of features, tease out edge-cases, and define how solutions work based upon user interaction, system and business rules, and conditions.
  • Thoughtfully apply visual design to enhance comprehension and increase engagement.
  • Describe your solutions using the right artifacts at the right fidelity, including flow diagrams, wireframes, wire flows, storyboards, story maps, mockups, and interactive prototypes.
  • Proactively partner with researchers to better understand user needs and journeys and validate potential product changes. Actively participate in research and get direct exposure to people who use the product.
  • Connect your decisions and recommendations with a rich understanding of our users, the broader product vision, and our company objectives.
  • Solicit feedback on your work early and often by facilitating regular critiques and reviews. Contribute feedback to others that is constructive, useful, and actionable.
  • Demonstrate initiative and use your judgment to make decisions and do things without needing to be told what to do.
  • Be relentlessly positive in pursuing new ways to solve a problem.

Requirements

  • 6 or more years of experience in human-centered design, interaction design, service design, design strategy, product design, or experience design as part of the software development process.
  • Bachelor's degree

Skills

  • Strong understanding of information architecture, multi-step, and cross-platform flows.
  • Understanding of the design thinking process (e.g. discover, define, test) and the importance of identifying the right problem before implementing potential solutions.
  • Understanding of visual design (e.g. imagery, typography, hierarchy, color, form).
  • Familiarity with different research techniques (e.g., expert and heuristic reviews, usability testing, interviews) and understanding of when to apply them correctly.
  • Proficiency with design and prototyping tools (e.g., Sketch, Figma, InVision, Miro).
  • Solid cross-functional collaboration, relationship building, and leadership skills.
  • Excellent written, oral, and presentation communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Familiarity with financial services, wealth management, financial advisors, and financial regulations helpful.
  • Familiarity with Agile and Lean management, design, and development practices helpful.
