UI/UX Designer

Description & Goals

Our job board is the largest single source of veteran talent, and our physical and virtual career fairs produce meaningful employment for veterans and add incredible talent to companies. 

As we’re launching new services, we are entering our next evolution, and we are seeking an experienced, creative UI/UX Designer to join our team. You will be an integral member of the technology team that is reinventing our job board and events platform, and you will be pivotal in bringing the next generation of our platforms to life.

About the Role 

·  Design software to support the needs of customers, military veteran job seekers and internal stakeholders.

·  Collaborate with managers, software engineers, product owners and other stakeholders to understand user needs and create innovative solutions.

·  Translate written requirements and concepts into user flows, mockups and prototypes that lead to intuitive user experiences for web applications.

·  Create rapid prototypes to iterate quickly.

·  Create designs fully ready to handoff to the development team.

·  Recommend design solutions and UI improvements across all digital products and services. 

·  Communicate design processes, ideas, solutions and concepts clearly and effectively to teams that are not skilled in UX discipline.

·  Resolve user pain points through great design.


Required Qualifications 

·  Four or more years of professional UI/UX design experience 

·  Experience building fully accessible web experiences

·  Experience building, documenting, and maintaining a design system

·  Experience with HTML and CSS

·  Fluency in Sketch or Figma

·  Used frameworks such as Tailwind or Bootstrap (we use Tailwind)

·  Practical knowledge of color theory, grid layout, typography, and graphic design

·  Great verbal and written communication skills in English


Bonus skills

· Knowledge of Javascript

· Knowledge of Ruby on Rails

· Copywriting
