I've never been a big fan of dating sites that are "crowdsourced," or websites that gather members using social media. I don't find the social media aspect of those sites to be effective, and I think it's a very passive approach to the discovery and matching of potential mates.
A great model is the dating website. If someone's been married or have a family for several years, then he or she is likely to be quite a bit more mature and knowledgeable than someone who just graduated from high school or just started a new job.
By using social media for both the discovery of potential mates and for the exchange of personal information and photos, you can create more meaningful relationships and potentially find the right one for you.
