    Commented on Mother's Day App

An app I made for my mother for Mother's day. I created a card and more, built it into the app, and then I also created a map page (pictured above). This page had pins of all the places we had visited as a family. Tap on a pin, and some photos would load from that trip. The app is nowhere near perfect, but then I created this in less than 5 days (obviously not spending all 24 hours of each day working on it). Stay tuned--this app may turn into something more at some point in time.

Wow, looks fantastic! Great job, especially with such a short amount of time. I still don't really like the colors at the top of the navigation bar, but I suppose that's Apple's fault for picking them. Good luck!

Commented on GlennKessler for iOS 2.0

Introducing the first preview of GlennKessler for iOS 2.0. The major focus is an all new iPad interface which fully uses the beautiful, large display (on the iPad and iPad mini). There will be improvements to the iPhone app as well. Been working on it for some time, so stayed tuned for more information.

@Ricardo Del Toro Ah, I see. I think the colors should be toned down a little bit at least. They can still be recognizable as the WWDC colors but be a bit lighter.

I'm not a huge fan of this. Here are my main problems:

    1. That blue color on the send button and the chat bubble. It sticks out like a sore thumb. It isn't really a nice shade at all. It is hard to place exactly what is wrong with it. I think the gradient is not enough and I think the actual color choice is wrong. I kind of feel like a lighter blue would work slightly better.

    2. The text on the send button and chat bubble have no letterpressing (shadows behind the text). I think this is a huge mistake. Letterpressed text is all over iOS and makes everything much easier to read. Your concept isn't easy to read. I strongly urge you to add some letterpress to the back of each letter, like the "iMessage" text that is there on the same screen.

    3. Your font in the chat bubble and on the send button is way too small. I don't think you previewed this on an iOS device beforehand. I suggest you use Skala Preview (http://bjango.com/mac/skalapreview/) to see how it looks on an iOS device beforehand. The text size is smaller than the default iOS size, which isn't good. It is hard to read already without the letterpressing and this just makes it worse.

    4. Your keyboard and navigation bar have buttons that are too hard to see from a distance. You should be able to glance at your device and see the buttons without having to look for them. iOS makes this easy. You can tell when something is a button. The buttons don't pop out on the keyboard. While your keyboard is sleek, it wouldn't be very functional (at least, that is how I see it, running on my device). Also, the back and edit buttons have borders that are way too light and not at all easy to read. Remember, iOS has to be usable for a child and a senior. Everything needs to be readable--beyond what you think is necessary.

    5. Your name in the navigation bar is not properly centered.

    6. While you changed almost everything about the app, you left most of the message area the same. This causes some inconsistencies. The Call, FaceTime, and Contact buttons look way out of place and frankly, so does the background of the message area.

I really think you should rethink the purpose of what you are trying to do. All you are doing is adding a less usable skin onto the iOS message app and I don't think it is working at all. I look forward to seeing any improvements and changes you make.

Ooh! Purty. I like how it kind of harkens back to Instanews.
    Quick things:
The WWDC button is too light and the text is hard to see.
The colored bar at the top seems inspired by Pocket, I like the idea, just not the colors. I suggest you keep trying to find less harsh colors. Picking colors is a long process, so I completely understand if you are not done with it yet.
Also, clean up your status bar :P. I suggest Status Magic in the Mac App Store.

Looks nice, but can't really judge without seeing the workflow of how this all gets imputed into the app.
