I've never personally been able to make the "bookmark" look work in many of my designs, but this feels so very natural. I love it. One thing though, isn't "cities" misspelled?
The bookmark and stitches are nice frills, but I don't see what relevance they have to the brand. For example... if I were designing a site for a costume maker, the stitches would fit. If it were a publsher's brand, the bookmark would fit. I'd prefer to see visual devices drawn from the "sex and the city" reference (maybe a cosmopolitan new-york modern restaurant aesthetic) to avoid making the site look too generic.
@Andy those are some good points and they lie at the heart of the difficulty I was having getting the logo style to fit within the site. The site had to look high end/sophisticated but the logo was making everything I tried look more adolescent. My idea was to make the site look like a handbag which which fits with the overall brand. That is where the stitching and fruit pattern come in. The bookmark element is suppose to be like a like that piece of fabric that comes over to close the bag, not an actual bookmarker.
it makes a lot more sense now you've explained it- that pink is very intense though! Best of luck with it- give us a rebound if you make any big changes, I'd be interested to know how it turns out...
You are so talented! I had no idea you also did web/design work. I've only seen your cartoons. So glad to connect with you on here. Your work really inspires me!

Very nice. I love the bookmark effect, as well as the stitch effect.

Thanks Renee. Yeah, the comic gets the attention but about 80% of the work I do is web design.
