My son is an avid skateboarder. A few weeks ago he broke his deck so we went to skate shop to replace it. I was excited to see all the cool the graphics but when we got there I saw some of the lamest designs I could ever imagine. What a let down. Where were all the cool designs? Most of them seemed like they weren't even trying. Why even bother? I'd rather have a clean board then some of the garbage I saw out there.
So my son and I starting talking. What if we could design our own boards? We talked about some ideas and then we sat down a scratched a few things out. Here's a quick screen shot from one of the designs I was working on. More soon....
My son and I came up with a few other characters that we thought would be hilarious. As we were sitting in the waiting room at the orthodontist I showed him the sketch for this one. We both had a good laugh.
I wanted something that would be kind of cool and funny at the same time. Since I don't really have a client for these just yet I figured I stick with what I do best... funny. I figure if they make someone laugh then that's cool enough for me.
This is the last one in this series I'll be posting. My designs are almost finished so it's just about time to go out and shop them around. I have no idea what I'm doing because I've never attempted to license a skate design before but the way I see it I have nothing to lose.
Hopefully the next time you see these designs they'll be on the bottom of a skateboard. If not there's always Zazzle.
Wish me luck...
