We're trying to get an obsolete highway demolished downtown. I'm making a website for the campaign, since that's a thing that I do.

I fully support this motion!
Why? I used that stretch every single day, a year ago. And for those headed to Houston that stretch of road is invaluable.
@Rolf Nelson Having an interstate that divides downtown essentially creates a "dead zone" where development is impossible, and in this case results in the obvious disconnect between downtown and Deep Ellum. The site will actually go into a ton of depth about how removing that 1-miles stretch of highway won't actually have a major impact on traffic movement (based on case studies in other cities), but could potentially pay off big time economically. Also, do we really want the overall urban infrastructure of our downtown to be dictated by those who are driving through it on their way to Houston?
@Justin Childress haha It's not just to/from Houston, it's for everyone east of Dallas coming into town or leaving town headed north/south on 75 or 45 from 30. I lived in Lakewood, and that was the best way for me to get not only to uptown and the museum district, but also 75 and even across town to 35N. 45 was also the best way for me to visit my friends just south of Dallas, without having to deal with the emotional headache that is i-35. The 30 w valley is merge city- with 3 onramps merging and bottlenecking and a lane ends before reunion tower(by southside on lamar). If you are headed that way and there's a wreck, forget about it, you'll be there stuck for an hour+. Not to mention the congestions caused by the state fair in both directions. 30 is already hyper congested and that alternate route is the only thing that makes that stretch of 30 drivable at any time of day. If 345 is removed, then 30 will most definitely have to be widened by 1 or 2 lanes to offset traffic flow.
I understand your heart behind this, and I support Deep Ellum, (and if it were up to me all of Dallas would be closer together and our transit system much better) but I'm just talking from a logistic standpoint.
