I too love it. Have you tried this with a serif typeface for the body? Just curious to see how that would look.
No, never for body copy. When you start to get into large chunks of text like that messing with the letter-spacing usually has negative results.
Though I have negative letter-spaced bold, italic Palatino because it's a little too open by default in my opinion.
The only "high-profile" example I know (off-the-cuff anyways) of letter-spacing body copy is Contrast's blog: http://www.contrast.ie/blog/
