Being a designer means many things. This is part of what it means to me—the opportunity to make everyday things beautiful every day.
Here's a poster that's been in process for a while and is finally now public! I got 50 of these printed; some will be going out as self-promotion and others will be for my fellow designers to enjoy. Each will be individually numbered in the lower right.
I made a valiant effort to print them myself on some equipment I have access to but after wrangling with the metallic (which seems to be more difficult to print with than I had thought) I gave up and asked the great guys at @The Prince Ink Co. to pull them for me, and they came out beautiful! (closer view in the attachment)
12.5"x19", metallic gold and black on French black construction. Great gift for a designer friend or for yourself, to remind us what a privilege we have to work as designers. Pick one up here.
@Andrew It was fun to try to print it, metallics are difficult for some reason. I used a low mesh (110) but still had trouble with it clogging every pull, heh. Thanks!
AYNNNDDDDD. Purchased. Really great job on this one, man. Love the phrasing. This is going STRAIGHT to a prestigious place on one of my walls. Well done.
We were very please with how these turned out... If you haven't already bought one.. you need to! Great work @Joseph Alessio, looking forward to the next batch/project.
I've been good! I see you have been busy with typography work and blogging though! :) I haven't been that active lately myself, but I'm trying to change that. Hope you have been good as well.
Ugh, the metallic ink on my bike poster from last summer was a straight jerk also. Kept drying in the screen. I prevailed but I don't blame you for farming it out. I will be next time.
@Jillian ah so I wouldn't be quartered and fed to dogs if I gave up on printing with metallics? :-P What did you do to make it work eventually? So it's not really worth trying? :(
