This is not by any means something "I'm working" on but more of an idea for an existing app I love. I know I'm not the only one who loves Instagram. It's an app I check multiple times throughout the day. I’m sure we all have our own pet peeves with the app but one I’m sure my unconscious saw but my conscious never really though about was the "cluttered" feed. Instagram is an app to browse photos from the people you follow so I wondered why the feed showed when the image was posted, if the image was like or not, a button to comment, a button to like the photo, the photo’s description and the hashtags used with the photo? While that’s information that some might care about I just feel it gets in the way. So here’s my minimal wish list for the future Instagram feed.
First cut ALL that out. Only show the username and the photo that user posted. If you want to “Like” the photo you would simply double tap the photo just like currently. If you would like to see the information like comments, description, hashtags etc., simply tap three times. The photo you triple tapped would simply flip over within the app and it would who the description, hashtags, comments and allow you to comment. Triple tapping would flip the image over and then you could continue to scroll through your feed. It’s that easy to get a feed that has more of a gallery feel. I think the wizards at Instagram could make this work magically. Of course the tweens/spambots who clutter the experience of Instagram might not like it but I think that would work two fold. That extra tap would prevent a lot of spamming and so on because you couldn’t comment unless you triple tapped the image. I dunno it’s just an idea but I think/hope Instagram updated this because it’s something that I cannot consciously unsee. :) I attached a quick mockup of what a simpler feed would look like.
Double tap the photo “Likes” the image.
Triple tap the image and you can see the description, hashtags, comment or report the image. Triple tapping flips the image back and you just keep scrolling.
If you want to follow me on Instagram my username is the top one in the attachment. :)

Nice and simple!
Thanks @Nuruzzaman Sheikh :)
Nice and simple. You could just do a single tap or even a swipe right to left to flip the image over.
Thanks @Tim Cook Love those ideas!
