I'm super inexperienced with icons, so any feedback is very welcome. Since my inexperience also extends to illustration/rendering, I decided to use public domain art as the key element. Much easier for me to work with. :)
The icon is for a Bible Verse-a-Day app (all the current apps are very poorly designed). The user can also customize the background/font of the verse and share it on Pinterest, FB, etc. See the project for more.

This is a great idea and look. I was able to see the original painting in person, I wonder if Carl Bloch would ever have thought his work would end up on a iPhone icon.
Love the icon but the vision does not align up with the rest of the application according to the other screens. The icon is very King James while the app is very modern... You would attract more users by making the icon more modern and fun vs religious :)
