This might be a technical foul to post to Dribbble, but I'm interested what people think. Currently in Photoshop when you CTRL+Click with the Move tool, you get a layers menu. If you have a huge document with a lot of groups and subgroups, the menu can be hard to read. This is a simple tweak using folder icons, bullets and extra indentation. Curious if anyone wants to rebound their own improved menu. PSD is here.
I worked with Ryan Sims on a project, who (to this day) still sets the gold standard for layer organization. By the time I saw his comps, everything was beautifully named and grouped into layer sets. But the name of each set was prefaced with a bullet and a space (“• ”), which got pretty close to what you’ve mocked up here: at least, it was a nicely indented bulleted list.
@Ethan: I usually put a hash (#) in the place of each group name and a bullet in place of individual layers, just for my own sake. But, I do wish Photoshop had a way to do this intuitively by default....

Great post. This feature is so frustrating that it's completely useless in it's current state. This would be much better.

Is this also assuming that people name their layers properly? Because it would probably look like, Layer 1 Copy 3 Layer 13 Copy 2.. Hah!

@Patrick Yes, but if "Copy 3 of Copy of Layer 148" was indented under "Copy 2 of Copy of Layer 148", I'd magically understand my layers. Ha!

Which was a damned joy to produce.

Ooh, that’s a nice system—I like that.
And yeah, Photoshop could really stand to make this more intuitive.
