After a quick poll, I've decided to give it some context and I think this works a lot better! Feedback always welcome!

This would look really great hanging from the footer of portfolio site :)
I think the EAR definitely helped it come to life as a monkey. I doubt you need the vine... although it is cute to put into some situations. Keep in mind you'll be putting this on cards and on the web ... think about how versatile you can make it. It's cute though :D
@Jesse Thoman Challenge accepted ;P
The vine really helps it.
any particular reason it's a monkey?
love it, like the addition of the vine - that extra touch of colour ...would look nice 'hanging' from the top of a web page, as well as on headed paper etc.
@Jon Lavalley Haha you don't know me too well do you Jon ;P
@james.t Thanks a lot James, I'm imaging it now!
well, I ask because employers will ask. Answering with "It's my favorite animal" isn't going to work. It only really works if there is a story behind the whole thing. If there is a story, I bet it's one hell of a story haha
@Timmy Chau - it's adorable. Are you going to refine it a little more or leave it as a silhouette?
I would love some context as to why you picked the monkey too. He's very iconic, I just want to hear why he's perfect for you.
@Jon Lavalley @Ryan Kiley
This is kind of late, but I did this breakdown a while back when I made this logo :D
