This is an early look at a fully-featured, native, and universal iOS client for Fever, Shaun Inman’s fabulous self-hosted feed reader.
There’s plenty of work yet to be done, and I’m not looking for beta testers just yet, but I’ll be putting out the word here and on Twitter when I am. Please stay tuned, and I hope there are at least three other people out there who are as excited about this as I am. :D
Thanks, Drew. That’s kind of the point: Function over crazy form. Ashes tried to do too much but ended up doing nothing. There’s something to be learned from that, IMHO.
As for the bubbles, those area actually just about the only custom UI elements in the application, and I thought I’d try to mirror the aesthetic of the [Mobile]Safari version at least a little. Same goes for the indentation of the group names.
The design takes plenty of obvious inspiration from Fever’s iPhone-optimized web interface. It’s not quite done yet, as it’s missing things like disclosure indicators (for viewing the items and/or contributing items), and the feed favicons. The colors and borders definitely need some tweaking too, and I’d love to hear some feedback regarding that.
I’ve been making an effort to test every screen in both portrait and landscape as I design and develop it, since I want landscape to look just as great as portrait does, not feel like an afterthought. Also, keeping landscape in mind from the beginning should help me with the iPad once I get to that.

You know what I like about it? The interface isn't custom. perhaps the unread bubbles would look better in a Gray shade, just a small idea :)

Here’s a preliminary look at the Hot view.
