Should there be a border around the (barely readable) text, though?
Also, the left edge of the search box looks like it wants to be lined up with either the text box OR the M in MAKEUP GEEK. Right now, it's sort of between the two. :)

Great observations, Anton.
Indeed, it looks like "subscribe to" is missing the text shadow.
The width of the search field is 300px, to match the sidebar below. Previously, there were fewer social icons above it, so matching the width of that area wouldn't have worked. If you look at an article on the site, I think the width of the search field is more apparent - http://bit.ly/hfresd.
