Avant Sans – Aa

For years, typography has always been an obsession of mine but I never considered making my own typeface. The last year, I started playing around with different type designs based off of some of my favorite typefaces, and finally found a base design. I want to make a typeface that will be suited for every type of design: print design, branding, logos, product design, web development, etc...

Last week, I decided to dive fully into 'creating my own typeface' research. I've downloaded multiple different programs, and trials, then finally stumbled on Glyphs which changed my whole outlook on this process. Along with creating a typeface that can be used and seen anywhere, I also want it to have every possible option.

Here's where I'm at: Avant Sans – a variable typeface. Starting with a standard width with Thin, UltraLight, Light, Regular, Medium, SemiBold, Bold, ExtraBold & Black.

I've challenged myself to create the weights for 100-900 for a single letter (lower & uppercase) each day.

I'll be posting my progress on Instagram (Avant Sans), give me a follow and I'd love to get feedback. Once the standard lowercase, uppercase, numbers and basic punctuation are finished along with the kerning I'll be releasing a demo otf files.
