I've been keeping my eyes peeled at antique shops and shows for a sign painter's box and finally decided to make one myself. I picked up the tool caddy at a local craft store for about $15, repainted it with house paint I had in the basement, and finished it off with some hand-brushed type. There's gold in the drop shades, but it's difficult to see in this lighting. Probably start doing more things like this. Detailed shot attached. Let me know what you think.

Box looks great. I'd love to flip through that Sho' Card book.
@Jason Carne Perhaps I can find some time to scan and share? There are a few specimens and poster layouts that are fun to look at. Thanks I'm happy with how it turned out, though I'm reminded of how difficult painting on a textured surfaces can be when you're trying to get fine details.
@Jason Carne Here's the Show Card book shown in the photo. http://pinterest.com/slingthought/the-abc-of-brush-card-writing-c-1934/
Awesome, thanks for scanning those pages, always great to look through those old books. I've been on the hunt for a good Sho' Card book for a while now. May have just stumbled upon an Atkinson one.
@Jason Carne In the meantime... http://bit.ly/12rr3ac
Wow, I never knew that existed, you're the man!
