One of the chief things that bothered me about other replacement icons is:
They don't maintain the appropriate light source
They use an "S" glyph with squared off ends (instead of rounded off ends like the original icon)
They abandon the color scheme of the original.
I just think those details matter. To aid coming up with the appearance I looked up the definition of sublime:
sub•lime: of such excellence, grandeur, or beauty as to inspire great admiration or awe
I thought the gold hues of the original reinforced the definition. To give a sense of "awe" I picked an angle, depth, and light source that gives the impression of looking up at something strong and bold. Perhaps I over-thought it a bit, but I like how it turned out.

Just added a couple icons that are more gold and less orange. Also, cleaned up the shadow a little.
