500 Series Audio Modules

My love for design and music often collide and I’ve always wanted to design an interface for audio gear. A lot of pro audio gear have poor interfaces, typography and graphics. Designers of these units cram buttons, switches, LEDs and text into a little space without any real thought put into it. These units should be as beautiful as they sound.

So over the last few days I designed an interface for a fictitious set of 500 series recording modules. The set includes a pre-amp, EQ, compressor, saturator, tape emulator and stereo imager. I based them on popular gear that I personally love.

For aesthetics, I’ve always been obsessed with vintage Braun products designed by Dieter Rams and I wanted to bring that ethos to this.
